WHO WE ARE

The idea behind Dori’s Doves began after Kathryn spent nearly 10 years walking alongside her mother, Dori, as she faced dementia. In that time, Kathryn spent countless hours providing companionship and care for her mother, while also educating herself on best practices for advanced-stage dementia patients. After Dori’s death in January of 2018, Kathryn began looking for ways to honor her mom’s legacy and continue caring for others who were facing similar journeys. It was around that time that a mutual friend led Kathryn to Lois, the care coordinator of the Doves in Fargo, ND. As they talked, Lois explained how she and her Doves have been able to serve clients in Fargo-Moorhead for over 18 years, and Kathryn began to see how this service could benefit those living in her own community. With Lois’ blessing, Kathryn brought the idea home to the Detroit Lakes area.
